A Volunteer’s Story
Lynda Shaw has been volunteering with Rebuilding Together St Louis for 5 years. She works in the office once a week doing a number of things. She enters homeowner applications, answers phone calls, prepares for meetings, organizes supplies for Rebuilding Day and helps staff members when they need a hand.
Lynda is able to be a part of the whole Rebuilding Together process. She reviews the homeowner’s applications; she gets to meet them at the homeowner meetings, and then gets to see their homes being worked on on Rebuilding Day. Lynda volunteers with Rebuilding Together St Louis because “It’s a great feeling to be of service”.
One of Lynda’s favorite things to participate in are the annual fund raising events. She has helped out at two of Rebuilding Together St Louis’s fundraising events and has helped to plan events in the past.
On Rebuilding Day Lynda has worn many hats over the years. She has been a Volunteer Coordinator and she has helped in the office to manage last minute supply needs and logistics. “The office gets hectic but it is exciting to see everyone working together to be of service to homeowners.” The excitement of Rebuilding Day is what keeps Lynda coming back every year.
