Homeowner Stories

Telephone excerpt from recipient of 2003's Rebuilding Day...
“It don't rain in my house. It don't rain in my house. I can't thank you enough. When people pass by my house because I'm right here on the corner, when people pass by my house - they stop! They say, “Girl, you are really blessed”. (laughter) I know, I know. The guttering is not falling down. The porch is not falling down and I have a new roof.”

“Dear Rebuilding Together Volunteers,
Just to say “thank you” cannot even begin to express my feelings and the deep gratitude I have for all that you did for me on Saturday, April 18, 1998.
Since my precious husband died, my life has been in turmoil.
“My only goal in life now is to be able to stay in my beloved home for as long as I live but I have to keep up with repairs, etc. On my fixed income, it would be almost impossible. Thanks to all of you, my dream is now a reality.
“There were many of you here, most not knowing each other but you worked together as though you knew each other and had been working together for years.
“I cannot say enough to express how I feel. I was so worried that my lovely little home would cost much more than I could afford to keep it up.
“Since my Daddy bought this home for us because it was so easy for me to get in and out of, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else ever.
“Thanks a million to each and every one of you dear, kind people for giving me help and hope when it was needed the most.”
Sincerely,
Mrs. M.
